Have you heard the news about Camp Loopy?? Well if you haven’t you can find all the details here. Basically all those who want to join can go “virtual camping” and knit 3 projects for the summer. The first challenge is to knit something you might wear around your shoulders to keep you warm at night by the campfire. Also, whatever pattern you choose has to involve 2 colors. I have been wanting to knit Clockwork by Stephen West so that’s a no brainer for my pattern choice. The yarn choice took a little more thought. I do have tons of stash yarn, but the incentive (involving Wollmeise) was too good to pass up so I just had to order a couple of colors from The Loopy Ewe. I clicked on over to The Loopy Ewe (between the dates specified so I got 20% off on my yarn and double frequent shopper points), and ordered some String Theory Caper Sock in Carina and Cobalt.
Now, I probably wouldn’t normally have chosen these colors, but I jumped on the band wagon a little late so stock was a bit limited. I’m really glad it worked out the way it did, because the more I look at (and sniff and squish and rub on my cheek) these skeins, the more I love them. A close up of Carina…Cobalt is way to bright in this photo.
I have some String Theory Caper Sock in my stash, but have yet to knit with it so I’m excited to take it for a test knit. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed because it feels nice and plump…did I mention how soft and squishy it is? A close up of Cobalt in which Carina appears yellowish, but it’s really not yellow at all in real life.
The project has to be knitted between June 15 and July 15 to qualify for the prizes (yes Wollmeise was mentioned) so I will sit on my hands until Wednesday’s starting date. Updates on my progress will follow.
