WOW! I just came to this resource from a link in my writing class at AiPO. (Art Institute Pittsburgh Online) Just sharing it as it was great info for me and an eye opener on how to gather your thoughts and start writing. I will post here for your convenience and will provide the original source.
So here it is…
Whether you have an assigned subject or choose your own, you need to get focused and engaged with the project. Assigned subjects may look limiting at first, but they offer plenty of room for individual expression. Open subjects, while promising great freedom, can be daunting because they don’t provide direction. They leave it all up to you. Yet these two situations, different as they appear, present similar challenges.
To get started, don’t worry about your subject–start writing. Let the process get messy and complicated. Allow yourself freedom to make mistakes.

So I did this video in under 20 minutes. I only used 2 tools and the place command. Very simple but I believe a great look.
This is my first time in illustrator and as a result this magazine cover is done with few tools and should be able for anyone to adapt and do very easily.
I get all my fonts from www.dafonts.com. It is a great place to get some fonts and you can enter words in the search box. For example I entered speed to get the font I used for the heading, Savage Flux.

I used the yellow borders again as the trim for the title for repetition. Contrast was covered by the R/C that is black verses the white Monste in the title. I tried to keep proximity so you were able to read without getting confused as to what content went with what.

I figure I would jump on the blog bandwagon. I am not a good writer, though I plan on improving that while at AiPO (The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online division). This is mostly an explanation of my assignments and hope to make them more of a tutorial as well. I really appreciate all vistors, comments and subscriptions to this site. Constructive feedback is welcome as I am new to alot of this stuff but there are people who don’t know this information. So I wish to pass this along and hang out and discuss my interest with others.
Thanks again for visiting.
